Joan Tarragó, the librarian of Mauthausen

Little is known about Joan Tarragó, a Spanish Republican, that after fighting in the Spanish Civil War ended fighting in the Maginot Line in France. We was caught prisoner and deported to Mauthausen, where he run a clandestine library for the inmates.

 

The documentary follows his story and how books became a powerful tool to escape from horror and the living hell prisoners had to face in their daily life at the concentration camp.
