En Portada goes into the jails of Texas
Huntsville is synonym of jail, of execution. It is the prison capital of the State.
In Texas all the roads for prisoners take to Huntsville. Sooner or later, all of them serve their sentence in the most emblematic jail of that town, at Walls Unit (known by latinos as La Pared). The ones condemned to death end there because Huntsville is the only one with execution chamber in the State. And the rest, those who are close to end their sentence, because, no matter the jail they are in, their release happens always at Huntsville.
Road to Huntsville gets into the jails, travels with relatives of prisoners waiting for years in the death row, talks to prisoners who have stayed in some of the 250 jails in the State or with one that was exonerated of capital punishment… and interviews the director of the prison who has ordered the execution of 89 prisoners.
