En Portada travels to Pennsylvania, a State drilled by fracking
The hydraulic fracturing is a controversial extraction system of gas that has stirred up the energetic sector.
The US State of Pennsylvania is full of supporters and detractors of fracking. Both speak to us of this new gas extraction technique that has stirred up the energy global market. Ones assure that fracking intensifies the seismic activity while others deny it. Some say that hydraulic fracturing waste tons of water while others argue that less than a golf course is used. Controversy is served.
About 7,000 extraction wells are estimated today only in Pennsylvania, extracting energy by fracking… and the amount of 100,000 will be reached in a few years. The US has bet unceremoniously for a system that guarantees its energetic independence during several decades… and this has changed its relationship with other countries, specifically those in the Persian Gulf from which it imported gas and oil.
