The red line of Jerusalem

En Portada follows the tramway line of Jerusalem, to show a city in a permanent conflict.

This light train has become a division sign.

Jerusalem has always been the center of the Arab-Israeli conflict.  This work shows the problems of coexistence and some aspects of the occupation through the light train that go through part of this city.

This tramway, inaugurated in 2011, covers a journey of almost 14 kilometers and it has 23 stops.  Even today it is controversial, as it crosses some areas of the occupied Jerusalem and connects some illegal settlements, built in this occupied area of the city.  It also goes through the so called Green Line that splits the city in two.

The recent relocation of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem has reopened the debate over its international status, and it has placed the city in the epicenter of any peace negotiation between Palestinians and Israelis.
